Commerce Bancshares Inc. has settled a patent infringement lawsuit that stemmed from a feature on its website.
The St. Louis Business Journal reports that Kansas City-based Commerce (Nasdaq: CBSH) settled Monday for undisclosed financial terms with Unified Messaging Solutions LLC, a subsidiary of Acacia Research Corp. (Nasdaq: ACTG). The lawsuit was dismissed; each party will pay its costs and attorneys’ fees.
Unified Messaging, which is based in Frisco, Texas, had claimed that the message center feature on Commerce’s website was a direct cause of the patent infringement, which related to Web-based communication and message services.
